ABOUT
SALZBURG
From the days of the Celts to the Salzburg Archbishops, salt brought riches and
prosperity. Today, Salzburg is considered one of the most beautiful places in
Europe and is known as the birthplace of Mozart, supplying its inhabitants and
guests with many concerts, operas and other cultural events. 
CLIMATE
Summer-time throughout Austria is from June 21 - September 21. The weather in
 Salzburg
is warm and sunny. The temperatures range from 20° - 28° C. Light rain
is possible. 
CLOTHING
Informal for all occasions; please bring sunglasses and walking shoes. In the
evening a jacket is recommended, as well as an umbrella.

participant of the 73rd European Atherosclerosis Society (EAS) Congress, July
7 - 10, 2002, you and one accompanying person will benefit from a favourable congress
fare on Austrian Airlines, Tyrolean Airways and Lauda Air flights.* Please

to: CODE - EASC2/OSCN. If your ticket is issued at a travel agency,

AIRPORT INFORMATION SALZBURG
Salzburg International Airport is located approximately 4
km west of the city. Buses leave from Salzburg airport to
the main rail-road station every 15 minutes and every half
hour at night
(until 10 pm). Bus number: 77.
Journey time from the airport to downtown is approximately
15 minutes. Private taxis are also available. Prearranged
transfer by private car: EURO 19 per person.

AIRPORT INFORMATION MUNICH
Munich International airport is located 190 km from Salzburg. Journey time from
Munich Airport to Salzburg downtown is approximately 2 hours. Transfer by
minibus to Salzburg hotels: EURO 32.5 per person. Maximum waiting time is
90 minutes. If you wish to use this service, please indicate on the Accommodation
Form your exact arrival/departure time. 
EAS TRAVEL GRANTS FOR EASTERN BLOC SCIENTISTS A limited number
of travel grants of EURO 1000 each will be made available to some Eastern Bloc
scientists submitting an abstract. 
Following submission of abstract electronically, participants interested in applying
should send a letter (to the Secretariat, c/o Kenes International) stating
position and the reason why he/she is eligible for this grant. The EAS Executive
Committee and the local organizers will select the recipients of these travel
grants.

LETTERS OF INVITATION Official letters of invitation designed
to help overcome administrative difficulties in certain countries will be sent
on request. It must be understood that such letters do not represent a commitment
on the part of the Organizing Committee or Congress to provide any financial assistance.
If you require such a letter, please apply to the Secretariat. 
VISAS
Some participants may require Visas in order to enter Austria. Please check with
your local Austrian Consulate or Embassy. The Austrian Government website at:
