Dear
Friends and Colleagues, On behalf of the Organizing Committee of
the 73rd EAS Congress, we cordially invite you to an exciting scientific and social
event. This Congress, scheduled between July 7th and 10th, coincides with
the world-famous annual Salzburg Festival and will occur in the newly opened Salzburg
Congress Centre, one of the most advanced and modern congress facilities in Europe. We
have invited some of the most famous scientists in the field of atherosclerosis
research for the scientific program of our congress, who promised to present the
newest developments in their field of interest. Topics covered among others include:
genomics, proteomics, immunology, cholesterol homeostasis, novel anti-atherosclerotic
treatments, pathomechanism and enhancement of reverse cholesterol transport.
The
scientific highlights of the congress without doubt are the nobel laureate lecture
and the key-note lecture. The nobel laureate lecture "A Century of Cholesterol
and Coronaries" will be given by Joseph Goldstein right after the opening of the
scientific program on Monday morning. The key-note lecture entitled "Chromosome
Segregation - one hundred and one years after Mendel's Rediscovery is scheduled
immediately after the Opening Ceremony on Sunday and will be presented by Kim
Nasmyth. In order to encourage younger scientists to actively participate
in the meeting, we will select oral presentations from submitted abstracts that
will cover up to 50% of the workshop program. As part of our social program
you will be able to sample some of the culture of Salzburg, including concerts
and exciting tours to the old part of Salzburg and the famous sound of music castle. We
look forward to welcoming your participation. We will endeavour to make it an
unforgettable event, both scientifically and socially. Yours faithfully,
