PRE CONGRESS TOUR:

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, 2000
A. AIX LES BAINS - ANNECY - CHAMONIX
Departure from Lyon for Aix Les Bains, situated on Lake le Bourget. Take a boat ride to the Hautecombe Abbey, overlooking the lake, a sumptuously decorative abbey steeped in history. Continue to Annecy, where between the stunning mountains and the cleanest lake in Europe, the capital of Haute-Savoie, the Venice of the Alps, offers a spectacular view. After lunch, visit Old Annecy, its arcades, canals, the Palais de l'Isle and its fortified gates.

Overnight in Annecy

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 1, 2000
Departure for Chamonix, the world renowned winter sports resort lying on the feet of the "Mont Blanc", with its 4807 meters peak and the giant Alpine glaciers. Travel by the small Motnevers railway to visit the Sea of Ice and the Crystal Gallery. After lunch, ascend by Cable Car the Aiguille du Midi, at a height of 3842 meters. Experience a panorama unlike any other in France or the Alps.
Return to Lyon.

POST CONGRESS TOURS

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 6, 2000
B. THE BEAUJOLAIS
Depart to the Beaujolais region and its famous vineyards and wine villages, such as Saint Amour, Juli?nas and Chenas. Lunch at a typical Beaujolais restaurant. Continue to the Route des Pierres Dor?es and its medieval villages, Oingt and Bagnols. Partake in wine tasting in a traditional Beaujolais wine cellar
Return to Lyon.

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 7, 2000
C. REGIONAL CULTURE AND TRADITIONS
Depart from Lyon to the Dombes area for a unique view of over 1000 ponds. Continue to the medieval town of Chatillon sur Chalaronne. Lunch on a traditional menu of the Bresse area followed by a visit to P?rouges, a medieval village with its ramparts, fortified church, Prince's House and narrow cobblestoned streets.
