| DECEMBER 2007 - ISSUE 4 | ||||||||||||||||
December hails the start of the festive season, and in addition to celebrating, it is a fitting time to reflect on the successes of the past year and the challenges of the new year ahead. Kenes International organized over 30 congresses in 2007 in 22 countries worldwide, and our dedicated staff is now gearing up for our upcoming congresses in 2008. We enjoy the opportunity to continue our work with our longstanding clients and to welcome newcomers to our client base. Kenes International cherishes the special relationships that we have, and hope to attract more longstanding relationships in the year ahead. The new year is also a time for resolutions, and we have taken a new commitment upon ourselves: to be more environmentally friendly. For this purpose we have set up our very own “Green Team” who are responsible for ensuring that our Green commitments are prioritized and put into action. Raising awareness is first and foremost, and initiatives include enforcing recycling and aiming to be more energy efficient at the office, and providing a “Green Package” to conference committees, outlining how we plan to offer Greener conferences to our clients. Ideas include replacing printed media with electronic wherever possible, introducing recycling bins at the conferences for the recycling of badges, papers, plastic etc and replacing lunch boxes with buffet style catering. We would like to take this opportunity to wish you and yours “Happy Holidays” and all the best for the New Year

The Kenes International approach to Crisis ManagementCrisis Management is a highly topical issue which unfortunately has become a harsh reality in today’s world. As Kenes International is recognized as a leading expert PCO in the area of crisis management procedures and experience, Dan Rivlin gave a presentation at the 46th International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) in Pattaya, Thailand which took place on October 30, 2007. The focus of the presentation was to shed light on the importance of Crisis Management and to emphasize the obligation of PCOs to have a contingency plan should a dire situation occur. Dan Rivlin outlined different examples of when Kenes International has had to find alternative arrangements at the last minute in response to emergency situations such as in situations of disease (bird flu, SARS), natural disaster (fire, flooding) terrorism (9/11) and wars (Gulf War). |

Spotlight on Venice, Italy"When I went to Venice, I discovered that my dream had become-incredibly but quite simply-my address” Marcel Proust Venice is a unique city possessing a charm and magic in its canals, winding streets, elegant arched bridges and charming squares than can be found in no other place on earth. Venice was chosen as the location for the First World Congress of Total Intravenous Anaesthesia - TCI, which took place September 27-29, 2007 and had a participation of 650, and also for the 7th International Congress on Coronary Artery Disease (ICCAD) which took place October 7-10, 2007 and hosted 1150 delegates.
Venice offers a variety of ideal venues and facilities for hosting an international congress. Examples include the Hilton Molino Stucky Venice, a splendidly restored 19th-century Molino Stucky flour mill that is centrally located near the Piazza San Marco, and the Palazzo del Casino, a favorite location for international events in Venice, most notably, the Venice International Film Festival. Venice’s Marco Polo Airport (VCE) stands just 13 km / 8 miles north of central Venice and is currently enjoying a major period of expansion, a project known as the 'Venice Gateway' which includes plans to build a major conference center to serve up to 2000 delegates, numerous shopping centers, a hotel and an office complex. We consider Venice to be a successful location for our congresses, and look forward to bringing more congresses to this city in the future. |
