AEP Congress Profile

The AEP
The AEP, founded in 1983, is the largest international association of psychiatrists in Europe with members in 58 countries. The mission of the AEP is to improve the quality of mental health care throughout Europe, by enhancing the standard of psychiatric education and training, promoting excellence in psychiatric research and encouraging progress in psychiatric clinical practice.

New Identity for AEP Congresses
Starting this year, the annual AEP Congress becomes “The European Congress of Psychiatry”.
This new identity reflects the fact that this is the only European Congress dealing comprehensively with all the various aspects of psychiatry (diagnosis and classification; psychopathology; the various determinants of mental disorders; the various treatments, including psychopharmacology, the various types of psychotherapy and rehabilitation; community mental health care; organisation of mental health services; forensic and ethical aspects, etc.).

New Congress Structure
The European Congress of Psychiatry will take place every year in early Spring.
A Core Organising and Scientific Committee has been appointed and will remain the same for many years. The Congress has a high quality Core Scientific Programme, whose ingredients will remain the same in the various editions. The Core Scientific Programme covers the most promising areas of psychiatric research in Europe and many of the significant issues currently faced by European clinicians in their daily practice. The programme also favours meetings of psychiatrists with different backgrounds and orientations and serves the educational mission of the AEP.

The 14th European Congress of Psychiatry
The Congress theme is “New perspectives on treatment in psychiatry”.
The Core Scientific Programme is of extremely high quality and includes Plenary Lectures, Core Symposia, State-of-the-Art Lectures as well as interactive events.
