Young Psychiatrists Programme

Following the great success of the Young Psychiatrists Programme in Geneva, 2004 and in Munich, 2005, the AEP decided to continue this initiative at the 14 th European Congress of Psychiatry, in Nice.
The AEP 2006 Young Psychiatrists Programme will focus on New Challenges for Young Psychiatrists in Europe: Management in Psychiatry.
We hope that Young Psychiatrists will enjoy this stimulating initiative, which is an integral part of the AEP Congress and demonstrates the special interest of our Association for younger colleagues.

The programme will include the following elements:

Young Psychiatrists Symposium

S42 New Challenges for Young Psychiatrists in Europe: Management in Psychiatry

Young Psychiatrists Workshop

W21 European and International Networks of Young Psychiatrists and Trainees
Speakers will include the EFPT President, the WAYPT President, a WPA-YPC representative as well as an E-EPSY representative.

Interactive Clinical Session

ICS New Perspectives on the Treatment of Schizophrenia
(Organised in cooperation with the Lundbeck Institute)

This session will cover an update of all aspects of clinical case management in the schizophrenic patient.

Meet-the-Expert Session
Two “ Meet-the-Expert” Sessions will be organised on March 6, 2006, at 11:15 – 12:15 (with H. Sass, Germany) and March 7, 2006, at 11:15 – 12:15 (tba). The “ Meet-the-Expert” Sessions are designed to primarily target psychiatrists of the younger generation. The experts are leading figures of European Psychiatry who are asked to contribute to aspects of “New Challanges for Young Psychiatrists and Trainees in Europe”.
These sessions will be chaired by a member of the YPP Organising Committee.
The sessions are limited to 100 participants. Pre-registration via the website is required (at no extra cost).

Breakfast Meetings
Two breakfast meetings will be organised on state-of-the-art topics of clinical and academic psychiatry relevant to Young Psychiatrists and trainees. Pre-registration via the website is required (at no extra cost).

Young Psychiatrists Lounge
The Young Psychiatrists Lounge will be a meeting point exclusively reserved for Young Psychiatrists, with possibilities for networking and recruiting. The Lounge will also host specific events exclusively reserved for Young Psychiatrists i.e. Breakfast Meetings, etc.

Fellowships for Young Psychiatrists
The AEP offers 5 fellowships consisting of 4 nights hotel accommodation (single room) at the Novotel Nice Centre Hotel . Applications will only be considered if accompanied by an abstract and after the applicant has completed the registration process.

Important note: Deadline for submission of abstracts and fellowships is December 2, 2005.

Fellowship recipients will be selected on the basis of abstract evaluation by the Scientific Committee.

Young Psychiatrists eligible for fellowship are:
  • Trainees (residents in psychiatric training)
  • Psychiatrists (young professionals) up to 5 years after completion of training

The 14th European Congress of Psychiatry will also reserve specific incentives for Young Psychiatrists wishing to attend the Congress.

  • Reduced Registration fees:
    All residents in training will benefit from a reduced registration fee of € 220, when registering before December 15, 2005.
    A letter from their head of department confirming their status will be needed.

    The Congress will feature 15 high-quality Continuous Medical Education Courses, covering all aspects of psychiatry.
    Each Young Psychiatrist is entitled to one complimentary CME course. Please mark your choice on the online registration form. Kindly note that in each course up to ten places will be reserved for Young Psychiatrists.
    These free registrations will be allocated for Young Psychiatrists on a “first come, first served” basis, so register early.
