Dear Colleagues,
Stem cells have fascinated biologists for decades but this
field of research has never been as vibrant and exciting as
it is today. Primarily, the prospects of translating stem cell
research into medically applicable technologies are high.
This attracted public attention and enthusiasm, along side
with criticism and doubts.
Additionally, our old concepts regarding stem cells, have
been recently shattered and new research directions emerge.
The change in our perception of stemness may eventually
lead to a new view of the nature of biological systems. It
is therefore of prime importance to hold, at this point in
time, this International Stem Cell meeting, the first in a
series that will, in the coming years, focus on various aspects
of this large and still growing discipline.
On behalf of the Organizing Committee I hereby invite you
to attend this event and contribute to it both scientifically
and socially. We have already obtained the consent of
several world leaders in stem cell research to share their
recent findings with us. These presentations along with
your active participation, will assure a successful meeting.
