CONFERENCE HIGHLIGHTS AND TOPICS

The Organizing Committee has decided this year to focus the conference around several disease states:

Respiratory disorders

Central Nervous System disorders

Metabolic disorders

Cancer

Bringing together traditional biotech with medical devices will provide-for the first time -a holistic view that will cover basic science and applicable and industrial biopharmaceuticals and medical technologies. World renowned keynote speakers such as Prof. Aaron Ciechanover, Prof. Inder Verma, Prof. Barbara Corkey, Prof. Joseph Schlessinger, Mr Steven Burrill and many more have already confirmed their participation. They will present an overview of the field and their vision for the future.

A special session will be devoted to the issue of "Convergence ". This is a multidimensional phenomenon spreading over financials, corporate, technology and culture. Mr Fred Frank will discuss the convergence of the financial markets and a leading corporate executive will discuss the consolidation dynamics of the pharma and biotech industries. Two workshops will discuss convergences of technologies and convergence of culture. These issues are of prime interest and importance to the evolving Israeli biomedical industry.

Last but certainly not least we are honored to have three plenary presentations: Dr. Leroy Hood from The Institute for Systems Biology, Dr. William J. Rutter one of the founders of Chiron will give his personal perspective of the biotech industry and Dr.. Jonathan D. Trent from NASA will present a glimpse of the future.

Traditionally the closing panel will discuss the most important issues concerning the industry in Israel.
