In addition to the Get-Together Reception, registered accompanying persons are invited to join the following two half-day tours.

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 3, 2000
LYON - WORLD HERITAGE TOUR
Lyon's rich historical heritage is illustrated in this tour highlighting 2000 years of the city's history. Lyon is the second major urban center on the World Heritage list of UNESCO and was a major power in the Gallo-Roman period. Visit the Fourvi?re hill with its stunning scenic view, the Basilica and the Roman theatres. Continue to the old Lyon district with St. John's Cathedral and the Renaissance Quarter. Discover the thriving town center and main squares and admire the view from Croix-Rousse, known as the 'working hill' , today a bustling and cultural neighbourhood.

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 4, 2000
THE SILK TRADE
Visit the silkworkers workshop in Lyon, renowned for the silk it produces. Watch the 'Canuts' (the name given to Lyon's silk workers), perform their art and learn all about silk weaving through demonstrations of traditional printing techniques and an exhibition of the historical importance of this craft. There is also a fine produce shop on the premises. The tour continues to the Croix-Rousse district, passing through the 'traboules', passages which go through houses, linking one street to another.
Tours depart at 09:00 hours from the Hospitality Desk at the Lyon Convention Center.
