Kenes International has appointed Aton Travel as its tours company; They will be offering a selection of tours in and around Cairo;

IMPORTANT NOTEs:

The Pre/Post Meeting Tours are open to ICS participants and their guests.
Prices are quoted in U.S. Dollars, inclusive of taxes and valid until end of October 2008. The prices are subject to change if entrance fees to the sights indicated will change or if new taxes are imposed
Prices are quoted for a minimum participation of two persons per tour, also valid for groups larger than 10 persons joining the same tour and in the same day & hour
All tours include: Air-conditioned transportation with qualified drivers, a professional English speaking guide (Egyptologist) and entrance fees to the sights indicated
The tours will depart and return from/to your hotel
For tours 10, 11, 12 and 13, prices include: Transfers from/to hotels in Cairo, Luxor & Aswan, entrance fees to the sights indicated, assistance of a tour guide (Egyptologist), A/C transportation and meals as indicated
For tours 14 & 15, price includes: Transfers from/to hotels in Cairo, Sharm El Sheikh or Hurghada and accommodation as indicated

Tour 1: The Egyptian Museum

The collection was enclosed in his tomb for over 3,500 years before its discovery in the 1920’s when his tomb was excavated

 

 

Tour 2: The Great Pyramids and the Sphinx of Giza

The entire valley of Giza stands as a marvelous reminder of the skill executed in the creation of the great Pyramids – Cheops (the most colossal ever built), Chephren & Mykerions. Not far from the pyramids is the great Sphinx of Giza - a huge funeral complex guarded by the legendary statue that combines the head of king Chephren and a lion’s body.

 

Tour 3: Memphis & Sakkara

A drive to Memphis (the oldest capital of Egypt) to see the colossal statue of Ramsis II , and the alabaster sphinx of king Tutmosis III. Then a visit to the Saqqara step Pyramids.

 

Tour 4: The Citadel, Mohamed Ali Mosque and Bazaar

We will visit the contrasting architectural components of the Citadel, including the Alabaster Mosque of Mohamed Ali, the highlight of the tour. From the Mosque of Ali we will continue to the “Khan El Khalili” Bazzar, dating back to the 14th century and once known as the Turkish bazaar during the Ottoman period. The bazzar includes typical Egyptian handicrafts.

Here you will discover the only place in Egypt where the three divine religions left their marks in the area. We shall visit the Coptic Museum which was built on the remains of an ancient Roman fortress of Babylon. The Ibn Tulun Mosque in Cairo and the earliest retaining its original fabric. Then we continue to Ben Ezra that was built on a cache containing several hundreds of Old Hebrew manuscripts providing a unique source for the history of the period from early 11-16 centuries.

Built amidst the ruins of the Serapium in 297 AD in honor of Emperor Diocletian, it is the most prominent remaining Greek landmark in Alexandria. Catacombs; The largest Roman cemetery in Alexandria, is composed of three levels cut 30 meters deep into the existing rock. Dating back to the beginning of the Second Century AD, it is a blend of Pharaonic and Roman art. The fort of Quitbay; Erected on the northern tip of the Eastern Port on the site of the ancient Pharos of Alexandria, the fort design is influenced by both medieval architectures as well as by the lighthouse original layout. The fort also houses the Naval Museum.

Tour 10: Full Day to Luxor: Visiting West & East Nanks of the Nile

Temple of Queen Hatshepsut (Ancient Egypt’s only female Pharaoh) merges with the sheer limestone cliffs that surround it, as if nature herself had built this extraordinary monument. On the way back to the river Nile, your road passes by the famed Colossi of Memnon, known in Ancient Greek times for their haunting voices at dawn. Your Egyptologist will guide you on a tour of the East Bank of Luxor, starting with the strikingly graceful Temple of Luxor dedicated to the god Amun. Proceed to the Temple of Karnak, built over more than a thousand years by generations of Pharaohs.  The great “Hypostyle Hall” is an incredible forest of giant pillars, covering an area larger than the whole of Notre Dame Cathedral.

Once just a small fishing village, but today, Hurghada has became the foremost tourist resort of the Red Sea coast and an international centre for aquatic sports like; windsurfing, sailing, deep-sea fishing, swimming, but, above all, snorkelling and diving. Life at Hurghada starts at night, when all clubs and night life spots open. A fun place where you may find a rousing party along the main street.
