Please approach the registration desk upon arrival in Nice in order to receive your Congress Kit containing the Final Programme, CD-Rom exchange voucher and other useful information. It is obligatory to wear your name badge to all sessions and social events.

OPENING CEREMONY & WELCOME BUFFET RECEPTION

Friday, October 24th, from 18:40
The Opening Ceremony, followed by a Welcome Buffet Reception will take place on Friday, October 24th, from 18:40 in the Nice-Acropolis Congress Center. You are invited to join in the celebrations, to greet old friends and to meet new ones.

Monday, October 27th, from 21:00
Participants are welcome to join the Congress Party and to enjoy light snacks, drinks and dancing well into the night. Tickets are limited and sold on a “first come first served” basis.
Reservation Fee of € 55 is required. Reservations must be made by 15:00 on October 25th in order to confirm your participation. The tickets can be obtained from the Registration Desk.

TRANSPORT INFORMATION

The Nice International Airport (Aeroport de Nice Cote d'Azur) is located 20 minutes west of the city centre. A bus runs from the international airport to Nice and a ticket costs around 4 Euros. Coach services are also available to Monaco and Cannes. Taxis are available at the airport 24 hours a day and costs around 25-30 Euros.
For transportation during the Congress dates, each participant will receive a Tram Ticket, which will allow you to travel in the city using the tram for the duration of the Congress.

ORAL PRESENTATIONS

For all oral presentations and the Poster Symposia Session presentations, we ask that you please visit the Speakers’ Ready Room at least 30 minutes prior to your session in order to load your presentation onto the computers.
Audiovisual equipment (For Oral Presenters)
If using a Power Point, or any other computer presentation, you need to bring it on a floppy disk
(3.5 "/1.44 MB), on a CD, or on a “disk on key” (no ZIP disk), using the USB port.
Participants presenting with a Macintosh presentation are requested to use their own laptop, making sure the laptop has a VGA socket for sending images to the projector (external feed).

POSTER PRESENTERS

There are two poster sessions during the Congress. Posters will hang for the duration of each session.
Session 1: Saturday, October 25th, 08:00am – Sunday, October 26th, 11:00
Session 2: Sunday, October 26th, 11:30 – Monday, October 27th, 16:15.
Presenters are requested to remove their posters at the end of each poster session. 
For both the Guided Poster Presentation Sessions and the Poster Sessions, instructions on preparation of posters can be found on the Congress website:
http://www.kenes.com/eap2008/poster.asp. In addition, each poster board will include an envelope in which you may place A4 reprints of your poster or relevant material.
Please check the Final Programme for your relevant poster board number.

EXHIBITION OPENING HOURS

THE ON-LINE JOURNAL “ARCHIVES OF DISEASE IN CHILDHOOD”

The official, final version of the abstracts from the 2nd Congress of the European Academy of Paediatrics, October 2008 are being published in Archives of Disease Vol 93 Suppl III and all citations to these abstracts should refer to this supplement (adc.bmj.com).

AWARDS

The following awards will be handed out during the Congress:
The Young Investigators Award (Monday, October 27th, 17:45-19:30, Hall H)
The EAP Award and Nursing Awards will be presented during the Congress Party (Monday, October 27th).

EUROPEWIDE ACCREDITATION OF THE CONGRESS

The Congress will be fully accredited by the EAC-CME of the UEMS (European Accreditation Committee for Continuous Medical Education).

LANGUAGE

The official language of the congress will be English. There is one course conducted in French, with no translation.

CLOTHING AND CLIMATE

Clothing is informal for all occasions.
The weather in Nice in October may vary. The days fluctuate between pleasant/windy and rainy. The average temperature in Nice ranges between 9-16°C.
