European Paediatric Immediate Life Support (EPILS)
one day course (8 hours)
24 October 2008
The European Paediatric Immediate Life Support (EPILS) one day course will take place on October 24th, 2008 in Nice as a part of the EAP congress.
The course is aimed at training non-specialized nurse, paramedics and non-emergency physicians to recognize and manage critically ill infants and children and infants and children in cardiorespiratory arrest whilst awaiting the arrival of the Medical Emergency Team (1 to 5 minutes). The course will also train the candidate to work as a member of the Resuscitation team.
This interactive course is mainly based on short practical scenarios realized on manikins and is as close as possible to the “real professional life” of participants.
Participants will be taught or rehearsed for bag and mask ventilation, chest compression, foreign body release maneuvers, intra-osseous needle insertion…
The EPILS course is conducted in small groups and taught by EPLS instructors.
A Multiple Choice Questionnaire will be send together with the course manual one month before the course. This MCQ is aimed at helping the candidate to prepare the course. Careful reading of the manual is mandatory before the course. The fulfilled MCQ should be brought by the candidate at the beginning of the course.
Candidates to the course will continuously be assessed during the course and will receive an ERC certificate providing they reach a satisfactory standard according to ERC criteria. This certificate validates one module of the ESPNIC school of Pediatric Intensive and Critical Care
