PALERMO CITY TOUR

Morning visit to one of the most important monuments of the historical centre. Lunch in a typical restaurant. In the afternoon visit to the Capuchin Catacombs that contain the 8.000 bodies mummified by the Capuchin monks of nobles and bourgeois citizens and churchmen from the 16th C. until the end of the last century and visit to the Saint Rosalia Sanctuary. It was built in 1625 to celebrate the Saint Patroness of Palermo. The chapel was built into the sacred cave on the Monte Pellegrino. The girl's spirit, is said to have appeared to a shepherd one night during the terrible plague in 1624. She indicated to him where to find her bones and when they were carried to Palermo the plague ceased. The road that brings to the Sanctuary offers beautiful panoramas of Palermo.
- Guided excursion, price per person: Euro 59

CEFALŮ AND BAGHERIA

As a smart bathing resort and renowned international tourist centre, Cefal? is known for its long golden beach as well as for other monumental and artistic 'jewels'. The Norman Duomo, initiated under Roger II in 1131, preserves precious mosaics which adorn the apse and a representation of Christ Pantocrator which can be discovered inside the Cappella Palatina in Palermo and the Duomo in Monreale. In the same period, the Osterio Magno was the probable residence of King Roger II.
Of great interest is the striking medieval wash-house. A visit to Cefal? can not exclude a stroll along the lanes in the historical centre where you can linger amongst the numerous shops of ceramics and souvenirs. Lunch in a typical restaurant and continuation to Bagheria, the town of the "fabulous villas": in the eighteenth century the Palermitanan nobility, following the example of the Prince of Butera, constructed sumptuous villas and aristocratic palaces, thereby transforming an agricultural centre into a desirable holiday resort. The most famous above all, is the Villa of the Prince of Palagonia for the esoteric and mysterious air of the statues which adorn it. These include dragons, toads, monstrous chimeras and players of instruments which were impossible to use.
- Guided excursion, price per person: Euro 62

SEGESTA AND ERICE

Segesta and Erice were two of the main towns of the Elimo People. The history of Segesta covers a span of over two thousand years, marked by an incredible series of devastation and new occupation, destruction and reconstruction. Nowadays the monumental images of its temple and its theatre are the proof of the importance reached by this town. At the end of the visit, depart towards Erice. Lunch in typical restaurant and city-tour of the town: it is a magnificent medieval town, which has remained intact until today. Its chief features are its paved street, its tortuous narrow street, its even narrower alleys that had to protect the town from strong winds and from its enemies.
- Guided excursion, price per person: Euro 70
