TOURS ITINERARIES
Pick-up and drop off for day tours will be from the main entrance of the ICC
Convention Center, Jerusalem . Pick-up and drop off for overnight tours will be
from the congress hotels in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. All tours include entrance
fees as per itinerary and touring in an air-conditioned bus with the services of
an English-speaking guide. Rates for all tours are based on minimum 15
participants per tour. Changes in routes, departure/arrival times may occur for
reasons beyond our control. Please bring comfortable walking shoes and sun hats.
Modest attire is required to holy sites during the Jerusalem and Galilee tours.
Men should wear long pants and women should keep their shoulders covered. Tours
throughout Israel will be offered at the congress excursion desk to give
participants an opportunity to explore the country. |
JERUSALEM'S LIVING PAST - Half day tour

Monday 18 September and Wednesday 20 September
All around Jerusalem, one can see reminders of the ancient past. 5000 years
of history are almost constant parts of Jerusalem's landscapes and moods.
Beginning at the Knesset Menorah, the tour will continue to the Shrine of the
Book, and finish at the Supreme court. The modern political-cultural center of
Jerusalem- the Knesset, the Israel Museum, and the Supreme Court - all
incorporate ancient symbols and connections within their walls.

DIG FOR A DAY - Half day tour
Monday 18 September and Wednesday 20 September
In a fascinating half-day tour, a chance to participate hands-on in
archaeological excavations.
Arrive at Tel Marisha in the area of Beit Guvrin, the ancestral home of King
Herod. Vast underground labyrinths of man-made rooms are being systematically
cleaned, giving evidence of underground industrial complexes dating from the
Hellenistic period. Remains of olive oil production, weaving installations,
water cisterns and baths confirm a high level of material culture. This site
offers a wealth of discoveries and practical experience for those who want to
dig but have limited time.

THE CITY OF JERUSALEM - OLD AND NEW - Full day tour
Tuesday 19 September
All around Jerusalem, one can see reminders of the ancient past. 5000 years

Beginning at the Knesset Menorah, the tour will continue to the Shrine of the
Book, the modern political-cultural center of Jerusalem - the Knesset and the
Israel Museum which all incorporate ancient symbols and connections within their
walls. To explore these symbols and connections the tour will proceed to the old
city of Jerusalem to visit the sites venerated by the three great Monotheistic
religions, namely the Dome of the Rock, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and the
Western Wall. The tour will end with a visit to one of the most important
archaeological sites in the city: the Southern Wall excavations.

MASSADA AND THE DEAD SEA - Full day tour

Travel to a land of mesmerising beauty and contrast: The Judean Desert and
Dead Sea Valley, ever-changing, remote desert canyons, immense and still. This
unique landscape, where you can find monuments from every age of humanity is
crowned by the rock fortress Massada. Built by King Herod the Great, King of
Judea in the Roman period, the founder of the Herodian Dynasty, this fortress
served as the last place of refuge for 965 men, women and children, survivors of
the "Great Revolt". Besieged by the Romans and losing all hope, they
chose death rather than surrender. Enjoy the beauty of the Judean Desert and
experience the unique sensation of "swimming" in the Dead Sea and Spa,
the world's lowest point (420 m below sea level). Return via Qumran, where the
Dead Sea Scrolls were found.

NAZARETH, CAPERNAUM, TIBERIAS - Full day tour

Get ready to step back into history as you descend the rolling hills of the
Judean Desert to the Jordan Valley to Jericho, the city fortified 8000 years
ago, is the first city you will pass on your way to the north. The bible gives a
detailed account (Joshua 2-6) of the conquest and destruction by the Israelites.
From here you will follow a route taken by a generation of pilgrims to Tiberias,
one of the four holy Jewish cities, built by Herod Antipas as his Galilean
capital. The wonders of the Galilee unfold as you travel along the shores of the
Sea of Galilee, to ancient Capernaum where Jesus began his ministry after
leaving his hometown of Nazareth. Visit Tabgha, the traditional site of the
miracle of the Multiplication of the Loaves and Fishes. Continue on the winding
road to Cana where Jesus performed his first miracle. Visit Nazareth, the place
where the archangel Gabriel announced the coming birth of Jesus to Mary.

THE OLD CITY OF JERUSALEM - Half day tour

Jerusalem is truly unique. It is certainly one of the world's great cities,
evoking such intensity of feeling in so many different corners of the world.
Step back in time as you travel along the beautiful stone walls built by "Suliman
the Magnificent". Enter the Old City along the route travelled by
generations of pilgrims. Walk through the oriental market: passing jewellery,
textile, souvenir, spice and sweet stores through to the Cardo, with its
colonnaded Roman city streets and reconstructed Jewish Quarter. Follow the route
taken by the upper city dwellers to the Temple, via the "Western
Wall". Walk the route taken by Jesus as he carried the cross to Calvary,
and the Holy Sepulchre.

IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF JESUS - Half day tour

Join us on a voyage through history's most dramatic events as we pass
"Shepherds' Field" on the way to Bethlehem. Following the road
travelled by Mary and Joseph, you will arrive at the Church of Nativity, built
1600 years ago by Emperor Constantine over the stable. Enjoy the holiness and
beauty adored by so many over the centuries. Return to Jerusalem and follow in
the footsteps of Jesus starting at the Mount of Olives with a breathtaking view
of the Old City and the Temple compound. Walk along the path leading to the
Kidron valley and the Garden of Gethsemany where on a gloomy night Jesus was
betrayed to the Herodian soldiers.

BUILDING JERUSALEM - Half day tour

Over the centuries, many have built models of Jerusalem: the prophets of ancient
Israel built visions of Jerusalem of peace, the ancient kings built models of
power and wealth. Today, three models of the earthly Jerusalem will give us a
bird's-eye view of the history of Jerusalem. The 2nd Temple Model at the
Holyland Hotel allows us to visit the Jerusalem of Jesus and Herod. The 19th
century model at the Tower of David reminds visitors of a small, mountain city
still untouched by modern development. And finally, the model of futuristic
Jerusalem at the City Hall gives a summary in stone of the streets and
neighbourhoods of the city in the 21st Century.

THE MOUNT OF OLIVES - Half day tour

Since the Byzantine period, Christian travellers have journeyed to the Mt. of
Olives to recall the sites connected with Jesus' last days in Jerusalem. From
the summit of the hill, the panorama of the city is stretched out before us. The
churches from the summit lead to the Kidron Valley, and include the Eleona, the
golden domes of St. Mary of Magdalene, the mournful tones of the Dominus Flevit,
and the Getshemene garden.
