Aims:
Nutrition education is one of the most important aspects of Diabetes Therapeutic patient education. However, the current guidelines on nutrition in diabetes, emphasise the individual attitude, which leaves the responsibility to the dieticians. More and more research proving that diet and lifestyle habits can contribute to a significant lowering of risks for all diabetics complications, are being published. We - the dieticians educating the diabetics, have a very significant role in lowering the diabetics risk and deterioration. However this task is very complicated. Therefore we are calling to join us in this meeting
To establish a professional forum of dieticians who are diabetes educators.
To develop and lead programmes and research in nutrition education in different countries
To develop courses for dieticians to be recognised as diabetes educators.
