1. VIth International
Symposium on
Hypertension and Renal Disease in the Diabetic Patient
Dead Sea, Israel, September 21-22, 2000
Second
Announcement and Preliminary Program

Diabetes mellitus is one of the major health hazards in the western world
and has
become the major cause of endstage renal disease in several countries. The
presence
of hypertension and renal involvement in the diabetic patient are two major risk
factors for increased mortality and morbidity. We have thus decided to
organize a symposium, following the 36th Annual Meeting of the European
Association for the Study of Diabetes, which will be held in Jerusalem. This
symposium will be devoted exclusively to the discussion of hypertension and
renal disease in the diabetic patient, both from the scientific and clinical
point of view. The lecturers in this symposium
have been selected from the world leaders in this field. We are sure that the
symposium and the interaction between the lecturers and the participants will be
an outstanding educational experience for all.
We have selected the Dead Sea, the lowest spot on the earth, as the site
for this
symposium. This is undoubtedly one of the exotic areas in the world and is
well-known for the special properties of the waters of the Dead Sea. We are sure
that the participants in this meeting will be able to relax in this special area
of the world
and at the same time to have a rich cultural and educational experience.
