UPDATE FOR PARTICIPANTS

We are pleased to advise you that plans for the 8th EFNS Congress which is scheduled to take place in Paris, France, September 4-7, 2004 are progressing well and we look forward to a great scientific and social event. As the dates of the Congress are approaching, please find below some useful information:

SCIENTIFIC PROGRAMME AND ABSTRACTS
The complete scientific programme and abstracts can now be viewed on the Congress website.
Please visit: http://www.kenes.com/efns2004/program/SessionLIST.asp where you will also be able to design your own personalised programme to suit your own needs.

REGISTRATION
Registration on-line will only be available until August 26. After this date, you will only be able to register on-site at the Congress.

COURSES - SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 4
Please note that the courses are available on a first come, first served basis, as space is limited. Please make sure you register for the course of your choice as soon as possible to avoid waiting in line on site. Registration desks will be open at the Palais des Congrès as follows:

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 3

Open for all participants.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 4

For course participants and congress (paid) pre-registered participants only.

Open for all participants.

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 5 - TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 7
The registration desks will open at 08:00 and will stay open throughout the sessions.

HOTEL ACCOMMODATION
As September is high season, we would like to remind you to arrange your hotel accommodation for the period of the Congress as soon as possible.
Registration via this web site was available until august 26th.

OPENING SESSION and WELCOME RECEPTION
The Opening Session will take place on Saturday, September 4 at 18:30 at the Palais de Congrès. The programme includes a concert by the world famous pianist Pierre-Laurent Aimard.

The opening session will also include a special lecture by Antonio Damasio on "Advances in the Neuroscience of Emotion".

The session will be followed by a Welcome Reception.

POSTER PRESENTATIONS
All posters will be located in the poster area in the exhibition hall (level 1).

Posters will be on display on Sunday, September 5 and Monday, September 6, 2004 and will change daily. Your poster should be displayed as per the date and number in the Programme. Posters are to be mounted from 08:00 to 09:00 on your assigned day. Please remove your poster at the conclusion of sessions on that day.

SPEAKERS' READY ROOM (oral presentations)
A Speakers' Ready Room will be available for speakers, and will be available every day throughout the Congress.
Data presentation - If using a Powerpoint (or any other computer) presentation, please note you need to bring it on a floppy disk (3.5"/1.44 MB), on a CD or on a "disk on key", using the USB port in the computer and load it on one of the congress' computers in the Speakers' Ready Room, at least 1 hour before the start of the session. You may supply your own laptop computer as a back-up.

Please note that the congress' computers in the session halls are being supplied with Windows XP and Office XP (at least).

If using a Macintosh laptop computer, please note that you need to supply your own, confirm that it has a VGA socket for external signal and come to check it in the session hall where your lecture is taking place during the coffee or lunch break prior to your session, at least 30 minutes before the start of the session.

Please note that slide projection will not be available.

ACCESS TO PARIS FROM THE AIRPORTS
Access from Roissy Charles de Gaulle international airport (north of Paris), terminal 1 and terminal 2:

  • By RER Express Commuter train: follow RER signs (shuttle -red or green-bus for a short ride from the Air Terminal to the Railways Station): take the RER line B in direction of Paris Châtelet (approximate travel time is 25 minutes to downtown and cost is around €8; departure every 10 minutes from 5:00 to Midnight).
  • By Air France shuttle bus: follow "Air France shuttle" signs: take the Air France Shuttle bus (approximate travel time is 45 minutes to 1 hour and cost is around €9 departure every 15 minutes from 5:50 to 11:00 p.m.). Buses go straight to Porte Maillot terminal (Palais des Congrès).
  • By Roissy shuttle bus: follow "Roissy bus" shuttle signs: take the Roissy bus shuttle (approximate travel time is 45 minutes to 1 hour and cost is around €7, departure every 15 minutes from 5:45 am to 11:00 p.m.). Buses go straight to Opera Garnier in front of American Express office.
  • Taxi service is also available. Follow "Taxi" signs. It will cost you around €35/40 to down town Paris and the approximate travel time is 40 to 60 minutes.
Access from Orly international airport (south of Paris), terminal Ouest (domestic flights) or terminal Sud (international flights):
  • By RER Express Commuter train: take the Orlyval in direction of Antony and commute there to take the RER line B to Châtelet (approximate travel time is 30 minutes and cost is around €8, departure every 4 to 8 minutes from 6:00 am to 10:30 p.m.).
  • By Air France shuttle bus : follow "Air France Shuttle" signs : take the Air France Shuttle bus (approximate travel time is 30 minutes to 45 minutes and cost is around €6, departure every 12 minutes from 5:45 am to 11:00 p.m.). Buses will go straight to Montparnasse station or Invalides terminal.
  • By Orlybus shuttle: follow "Orlybus shuttle" signs: take the Orlybus Shuttle (approximate travel time is 25 minutes to 35 minutes and cost is around €6, departure every 12 minutes from 6:00 to 11:00 p.m.). It takes you to Denfert Rochereau RER and Metro station.
  • Taxi service is also available. Follow "Taxi" signs. It will cost you around €20 to downtown Paris and the approximate travel time is of 30 to 45 minutes.
