Welcome Message

Dear Colleagues,
It is our great pleasure to invite you to participate in the forthcoming 8th Congress of the European Federation of Neurological Societies - EFNS, which is scheduled to take place in Paris, France, September 4-7, 2004.

It is a wonderful opportunity to visit the "City of Lights", one of the most beautiful capitals of the world. The French Society of Neurology has arranged an exciting social and cultural programme that will make the congress not only an enjoyable but also an unforgettable event.

Similar to the previous EFNS Congresses, the scientific programme will be composed of teaching courses and plenary sessions, covering the progress in the main fields of Neurology. In addition, a large number of exciting focused workshops are included.

At the beginning of the congress, as new event, there will be a teaching course "How do I examine …", free of all charges. This course will be of particular interest for young neurologists, as eminent experts will make them rediscover what are the roots of Neurology.

Oral and poster sessions will complete the programme. Please review the abstract guidelines to submit your research and clinical studies for presentation during the Congress.

The EFNS will be offering 100 bursaries consisting of free registration and four nights accomodation at a three star hotel to neurologists under the age of 35 who are not yet in a permanent position and whose abstracts have been accepted as the best ones.

Again we will have a tournament of young neurologists, which appears to become a great success. Please see the instructions.

At the end of the congress the "Late breaking news" session will highlight the most important brand new developments in neurology.

We are sure that your stay in Paris will be academically, educationally and socially rewarding and we look forward to welcoming you to the 8th EFNS Congress to celebrate global advances in neurology.

Jacques L. De Reuck
Chair, Congress Programme Committee
