Discovery of the Old Town

Start in front of the Municipal House, jewel of Art Nouveau Architecture.

Admire the famous Old Town with its beautiful astronomical clock, surrounded by gothic, renaissance and baroque buildings and enter the Tyn Church, the burial place of the famous Dutch astrologist Tycho de Brahe. Jewish Quarter and Its treasure
Visit the most mystic area in Prague (Jewish Cemetery)

Jewish Synagogues and Cemetery
Large Jewish Ghetto before and during the Second World War defines the Jewish Quarter nowadays in Prague in the Old Town. Just off the Old Town Square, you can find the cemetery containing over 12,000
grave stones.
The Mayor of the Jewish Town Mordechai Maisel, who financed the extensive Renaissance reconstruction of the ghetto, built the Maisel Synagogue in 1590 – 1592.
The Klaus Synagogue is located near the entrance to the Old Jewish Cemetery and was completed in 1694. This synagogue holds an important place in the history of Prague’s Jewish Town. It was the largest synagogue in the ghetto.
The Pinkas Synagogue was built in 1535 and after World War II, was turned into a Memorial to the Jews of Bohemia and Moravia murdered by the Nazis. Inscribed on its walls are the names of the Jewish victims, their personal data and the name of their village.

Old Town in the theme of « Art Nouveau » architecture
Developed in the 19th century and honored mostly by the famous painter Alfons Mucha, Art Nouveau is represented on many architectonical buildings in the Old Town.
In the Municipal House you will find several halls decorated and painted in this style, the biggest of which is used during the famous Prague Spring Festival. A visit to the interior of the house is a must.
Continue to the Museum of Mucha, 7 Panska Street, right by Wenceslas Square and several footsteps from the Municipal House.
Enjoy a walk through the marvelous streets of Prague such as Parizska, Celetna, Na Prikopech, where you can see buildings in the style of Art Nouveau, Art Deco and Cubism.

Prague Castle
The most important place in Prague set in one of the most beautiful areas in Europe.


Hradcany is not only the location of the world famous Prague Castle but also of numerous palaces, churches and monuments.
A visit to Hradcany should start on Strahov, (tram station Pohorelec, n.22, 23) where you will find the unique libraries of Strahov Monastery.
Continue to Loreta Square where the Czernin Palace and Loreta church are located.
Your steps will then lead you to Hradcany Square, which is the main entrance to Prague Castle.
In the centre of the square stands a pest ( what is a pest column?) column with a statue of the Virgin Mary. The square is surrounded by several palaces : Stenberg – an example of Renaissance architecture, Toscana – an early Baroque building, Martinic with its portal from the 16th century and the Renaissance Archbishop's Palace with its rococo façade.
There ( Where is this?) you will find the First Castle Courtyard with its 1614 Matthias Gateway, the location of the much photographed Castle Guards and the beginning of your vist to Prague Castle.
The best is yet to come: St. Vitus Cathedral, the Knights court and Vladislav hall, St. George Basilica - one of the oldest in the city and of course the Golden Lane , where during the Middle Ages alchemists would try to invent gold!

Prague Castle:
The Prague Castle premises are open to the public daily from 5am till 12am.
Changing of the guards at the Castle gates are every hour starting at 5am till 12am At noon, with fanfare and banners exchange .

All the Prague Castle Sights are open daily from 9am till 5pm, except for Prague Castle Gardens which are open daily.
