  • All abstracts will be accepted as oral or poster presentations and for publication in the book of abstracts.
  • Abstracts will be published dependent upon payment of registration fees by no later than April 8, 2005
  • If you are unable to submit abstracts via the website, please contact the Secretariat.
  • ABSTRACTS SUBMITTED BY FAX WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
  • Submission of an abstract acknowledges your acceptance for the abstract to be published in the official Meeting Abstract Book.
  • Authors presenting abstracts must be registered participants.
  • Abstracts must be original and must not be or have been published or presented at any other Meeting prior to the 23rd Annual Meeting of ESPID.
  • Abstracts must be submitted in English.
  • The abstract must be received by the deadline of January 17, 2005. Abstracts received after the deadline will NOT be considered.
  • The Scientific Committee will determine whether the abstract will be accepted as oral or poster presentation, with consideration to be given to the author's preference.
ABSTRACT PREPARATION
  • Abstracts must be submitted in English
  • Title of abstract must be in upper and lower case.
  • Author(s) names must be in upper case (e.g. J.J.C. SMITH)
  • Abstracts should contain no more than 280 words, including acknowledgements. (Abstracts exceeding this limit will not be included for print).
  • Abstracts should clearly state:
    - Background and aims
    - Methods
    - Results
    - Conclusions
  • Abstracts stating: "data will be discussed in the presentation" will NOT be accepted.
  • Use only standard abbreviations. Place special or unusual abbreviations in parentheses after the full word the first time it appears.
  • Use generic names of drugs. Express numbers as numerals.

ABSTRACT SELECTION AND PRESENTATION

A panel of faculty members will review abstracts and results will be forwarded to the corresponding author.

Abstracts will be presented as oral presentations or posters and will be published in the Book of Abstracts.

For Oral Presentations:

  • If using a Power Point (or any other computer) presentation, please note you need to bring it as a PC / IBM compatible format on a floppy disk (3.5 "/1.44 MB) or on a CD or on a "Memory Stick" (using the USB port in the computer) - no ZIP disk! You may supply your own laptop computer as a back-up.
  • Please note that the meeting computers in the session halls are being supplied with Windows XP and Office 2000 (at least).
  • If using a Macintosh laptop computer, please note that you need to supply your own, confirm that it has a VGA socket for external signal and come to check it in the session hall where your lecture is taking place, at least 30 minutes before the start of the session (during breaks).
  • Please note: 35 mm' slides' projection, overhead projection and Video tape recorders are not standard equipment and will only be made available on request, in writing, to the ESPID Meeting Secretariat office 3 weeks before the meeting.

For Poster Presentations:

  • The dimensions of the poster board are: 90cm (3') wide x 170cm. (5'6") long. It is suggested that your Poster be 90cm x 100cm. (Any longer, and it becomes difficult to see.) Instructions for preparation of posters will be posted on this website.
  • Posters may be mounted from Wednesday, May 18.
  • Poster walks are scheduled on Thursday, May 19 starting at 15:00 hours. However poster presenters will be requested to stand next to their posters for informal discussions on Thursday, May 19 and Friday, May 20, during morning and afternoon coffee breaks only.
  • Posters must be removed by 16:00 hours on Friday, May 20.
  • Authors will be notified in March 2005 as to the method of their presentation i.e. oral or poster presentation.
BEST ORAL PRESENTATION CASH PRIZE
A prize of Euro 1,000 will be awarded for the Best Oral Presentation, selected by the Scientific Committee, from amongst the Free Presentations.

BEST POSTER PRESENTATION CASH PRIZES
Three prizes will be awarded to the 3 Best Poster Presentations, selected by the Scientific Committee, as follows:
1st Prize = EURO 750
2nd Prize = EURO 500
3rd Prize = EURO 250

The prizes will be presented to the recipients on Friday, May 20, 2005 during the Awards Ceremony.
