Spain is considered one of the cultural centers of Europe. Rich in history,
Spain boasts beautiful cities and
towns, offering really old monuments as well as futuristic architecture.
Although Spain is well known for Flamenco music and dance, bullfights,
beautiful beaches and lots of sunshine, it is Spain's people and culture
which is most worth knowing.
ABOUT VALENCIA
Valencia,
founded by the Romans in the year 138 BC, is of great historical importance.
Its location, by the Mediterranean, and its impressive climate has favoured
the thriving existence of the city throughout the different cultures.
In Valencia, it is possible to visit Roman ruins or very modern buildings,
with some spectacular monuments that should not be missed. From the cultural
point of view, Valencia has important museums, containing treasures that
range from medieval paintings to the Modern Art Museum (IVAM). The ceramics
museum, inside a Barroque building (Palacio Marques de Dos Aguas) is unique
in its category.
Valencia is the third largest city of Spain, with nearly one million inhabitants,
and has an annual average temperature of 18.9 degrees Celsius.
Valencia is called the Turia Capital (Turia is the river of Valencia)
and has many facilities capable of hosting an ESPID meeting.
