Half Day Tour

Enjoy a stroll through the well-preserved Old Town with its picturesque streets, historic buildings, original shops and elegant boutiques.

Continue for a visit to one of Basel’s most renowned museums, the Fondation Beyeler.
Over a period of fifty years, in parallel to their successful activity as gallery owners, Hildy and Ernst Beyeler built up an exceptional collection of works by modern masters.
Currently comprising around 200 works, the Beyeler Collection documents a very personal view of modern art and an unerring ability to recognise quality. Apart from the oeuvres of Cézanne, Picasso, Rousseau, Mondrian, Kandinsky, Klee, Matisse, Giacometti, Bacon and Baselitz, the collection consists of selected objects from Africa and Oceania.

Tinguely Museum Tour
Friday, May 5th, 2006
09:00 – 11:00
Half-Day Walking Tour

The Museum, Jean Tinguely Basel, designed and built by the Ticino architect Mario Botta, opened in October 1996. Works from all the periods and work groups of Jean Tinguely (1925-1991) are shown. The collection is made up of a generous donation by Niki de Saint Phalle, the artist and former partner of Tinguely, of acquisitions and of gifts donated by private collectors. The construction of the museum has made it possible to open up the fascinating and poetic world of Tinguely's machine sculptures and drawings to a wide public.

Both tours will depart from the Registration/Hospitality Desk at MCH Messe Kongresszentrum Basel at 08:45.
