ABOUT ANTWERP
Antwerp is the largest city in Flanders, the north part of Belgium.

The Cathedral of our Lady in Antwerp is one of the tallest cathedrals in the world. This gothic masterpiece of lacework in stone was built between 1352 and 1521. One of the few remainders of Antwerp’s Golden era, it still dominates the skyline.

Antwerp, is well known for its harbor (one of the largest in the world), for its diamonds (more than 50% of the world diamond production passes through Antwerp), for its fashion and for several famous old painters (like Rubens and Van Dijck).

Antwerp, however, does not only live from the past. Nowadays, Antwerp has earned a place among the fashion cities of the world thanks to the efforts of numerous young Flemish fashion designers (e.g.: Walter Van Beirendonck, Nadine Wynants, Ann De Meulemeester, Dirk Bikkembergs, Kaat Tilley and others). Visit the fashion area of Antwerp near the Meir shopping street.
