Dear Colleague, On behalf of the Congress Committee, we take great pleasure in inviting
you to the 16th ESPNIC Medical and Nursing Annual Congress, which will be held in Antwerp, Belgium in September 2005. The theme of the Congress is "Paediatric and Neonatal Critical Care - Changing the Paradigm", which will explore both clinical and scientific topics relevant to doctors and nurses caring for critically ill children and neonates. The Scientific Committee are planning an exciting and varied programme which will include plenary sessions, presentation of research papers, as well as breakout workshops and special interest sessions. The Local Organising Committee developed a framework for what promises to be a memorable Congress. The scientific programme is creative and currently evolving through collaboration between local and international experts. The content will be international in scope with a blend of national, regional and international speakers recognised for their academic and clinical achievements. The programme content is predominantly clinical, ranging from the fundamentals of clinical practice to the latest scientific developments. Sessions also focus on organisational aspects of paediatric and neonatal critical care and education, ethics, research and quality issues. Update sessions will provide the busy clinician with a state of the art review of major clinical topics. The organisers are committed to providing an opportunity for registrants to interact with an exciting faculty to discuss current and future issues shared by all of us in our daily practice. We look forward to welcoming you in Belgium in September 2005.
