CALL FOR ABSTRACT

INTRODUCTION

The Scientific Programme Committee is pleased to invite members of ESRA and all other participants to submit abstracts for presentation at the XXVII Annual ESRA Congress.

All accepted abstracts will be published in the following publications:

  • Special addition of RAPM magazine (Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine)

Deadline for the submission of abstracts is Thursday, May 15, 2008.

Abstracts received after the deadline will not be accepted.

Most presentations will be in POSTER format, although a number of slots are available for presentation as 10-minute FREE PAPER SPEAKING SLOT. Papers may also be submitted for the ESRA best free papers competition (for Residents only) of which accepted abstracts will be given a 12min speaking slot. If you would like your abstract to be considered for any of the above options check the corresponding box on the abstract submission form.

The presenting author is required to ensure that all co-authors are aware of the content of the abstract before submission to the Secretariat.

Please note that abstract content may be edited at the discretion of the committee.

RULES FOR SUBMISSION
  • The Congress Abstract Book will include all submitted plenary lectures, topical seminars and all accepted free presentations (free paper and poster presentations). (This excludes company sponsored symposia).

  • The first author is expected to attend the conference and present the poster or free paper. There is no limit to the number of abstracts a person can appear on as first author or co-author.

  • All abstracts must be submitted and presented in clear English with accurate grammar and spelling of a quality suitable for publication. If you need help, please arrange for the review of your abstract by a colleague who is a native English speaker, by a university scientific publications office (or other similar facility) or by a copy editor, prior to submission.

  • Only abstracts of authors who have paid their registration fees by July 15, 2008 will be scheduled for presentation and included in the Book of Abstracts.

  • The Scientific Program Committee will review abstracts and information regarding acceptance, and scheduling will be sent to the corresponding author.

Guidelines for Submission

Before you begin, please prepare the following information:

  1. Presenting author's contact details; include full mailing address, office hours phone number and email address.
  2. Presentation type preference (poster presentation / oral presentation)
  3. Author or authors' names: initial(s) of first name(s), family name
  4. Affiliation details of all authors: department; institution / hospital; city; state (if relevant); country
  5. Abstract title (limited to 20 words) in UPPER CASE
  6. Figures, tables or graphs which you wish to include in the abstract should be image files. Images should be submitted in JPG/BMP format, maximum width 13cm, maximum height 18cm and resolution up to 150dpi. Click here for more guidelines.
  7. Abstract text – limited to 300 words (fewer if a figure is included in the abstract). Abstracts should clearly state:
              Background and aims
              Methods
              Results
              Conclusions

    Uncommon abbreviations must be defined on first use.

    We recommend using word-processing software (for example Word) for editing your abstract and counting the number of words. Typing your text directly into the field is not recommended:
    a: You will not be able to see the abstract after pressing the Submit button
    b: You will not have a copy
    c: You cannot check the number of words
  8. Abstract topics – kindly please prepare your topic after consulting the list of topics.
