On behalf of the board of directors of ESRA and members of the organizing committee it is my pleasure to invite you to the XXV Annual ESRA Congress which will be held from Sept 6th-9th, 2006. For this, our 25th Anniversary congress, we have chosen the spectacular location of Monte Carlo, Monaco to host us in what will once again be the premium scientific event in Regional Anaesthesia & Pain Therapy in Europe. Since its foundation in 1980, ESRA has sought to associate and affiliate into one organization all anaesthesiologists and other physicians and scientists who are engaged in, or interested in, the techniques of regional anaesthesia for surgery, obstetrics, and pain control in Europe. As in previous years, the focus of the scientific programme will be on state of the art presentations in our field as well as new insights into basic science, clinical research and therapeutic interventions. The scientific standard at the annual ESRA congress is now recognised as one of the best in Europe, and as a result carries a high rating with the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education, who now assign credit hours to all ESRA congresses. We very much hope you will join us in 2006 at the exceptional location of Monte Carlo for what promises to be an unforgettable and scientifically progressive congress.
