The main aim of this scientific work was the evaluation of clinic
effectiveness of use of Xalatan 0.005% as the preparation of selection for the
patients suffering from primary angle-open glaucoma (POAG). They got max regime
instillation of miotics and beta blockers for a long time and had unstable
visual functions, first of all IOP. An each case we decided individually what
must to the patient better: operation or Xalatan?

The selection of patient was blind and the only criteria of it was
increased IOP while they were getting max regime of instillation miotics and
beta blockers. 18 patient
underwent a cure with Xalatan 0.005% from 7 days till 5 mounts. Their age was
46-81 years old. 14 patient were
female and 4 patient were male.
The preparation Xalatan 0.005% reliably reduced IOP in 14 cases (77.78%) and we
had doubtful results in 4 cases (22.22%), when IOP reduced not more but for 2
mm Hg. Decreases of IOP fluctuated from 2 till 14 mm Hg. The character of
alternation of IOP clearly testifies
the productive actions begins not earlier than in 3-4 hours after
instillation. Endur of Xalatan 0.005% was wonderful and we have not mentioned
any intensification or provocation of accompanying diseases and negative sight
effects. As a results of our work – we make a conclusion: the medication
Xalatan 0.005% is absolutely
effective as a medication of choosing for the patients, suffering from POAG.
