PURPOSE. To investigate the role of antibody level to type of collagen I and III in serum on the success of filtration surgery.

METHODS. To examined antibody level to type of collagen I and III in serum by sandwich ELISE of 53 patients with primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) - 36 eyes and secondary uveal glaucoma - 17 eyes before filtration surgery and past week after it.

RESULTS. We study antibodies to type of collagen I in serum patients with POAG in 33% and secondary uveal glaucoma in 50% case and antibodies to type of collagen III in serum patients with POAG in 67% and secondary uveal glaucoma in 50% case before filtration surgery. We followed up all patients (53 eyes) operated on for glaucoma 12 months. We detected excessive scarring during postoperation period, when antibodies to type of collagen I and III were not determine in serum before operation.

CONCLUSION. Antibodies to type of collagen I and III in serum may be controlled before filtration glaucoma surgery as a testing of filtration glaucoma surgery result.
