PURPOSE: to investigate influence of 0,005%
ksalatan solution on eye hemodynamic parameters, intraocular pressure (IOP) in
patients with glaucoma in combination with myopia of a high degree.
MATERIAL and METHODS: 17 patients (34 eyes) with
myopia of a high degree were observed. The 1st group (control) included 14 eyes
only with myopia, the 2nd group included 20 eyes with open-angle glaucoma in
combination with myopia. A tonometry on Goldman was performed in all patients.
Hemodynamic parameters such as amplitude of eye pressure pulse (AEPP), systolic
increase pulse pressure (SPP) were measured by impression automated
ophthalmotonograph. The arterial pressure (AP) and the pulse were measured. All
studies were performed twice before and in 12 hours after a single instillation
0,005% ksalatan solution.
RESULTS: The fluctuations of arterial pressure and
pulse were insignificant during all research. In control group the IOP decrease
on 11% (p=0,05) was observed, AEPP has decreased on 14% (p<0,05), SPP change
in this group was doubtful. In the 2nd group the IOP authentic decrease on 30%
(p<0,05) was marked and AEPP on 19% (p<0,05), SPP authentically has
increased on 21 % (p<0,05).
CONCLUSION: Ksalatan instillation causes authentic
and significant IOP decrease in patients with glaucoma in a combination with
myopia of high degree. In control group of patients with myopia of high degree
a small IOP decrease also is marked. The hemodynamic parameters were authentically improved in the group of the
patients with glaucoma in
combination with myopia of high degree. The obtained results enable to assume a
favorable influence of ksalatan on eye hemodynamic condition that is especially
important in the patients with myopia of a high degree.
