Purpose: To conduct the comparative study of AZOPT and TRUSOPT influence on IOP.

Methods: The research was conducted with the participation of 20 patients with POAG and 20 healthy volunteers. Patients were distributed into 4 groups, depending on the used drugs, by 10 persons in each. The IOP was measured in all patients before treatment and in 1, 2 and 24 hours after instillation of medicine (AZOPT or TRUSOPT).

Results: The  maximum reduction of IOP of 3,9 mmHg was measured in a group of healthy volunteers using TRUSOPT, and IOP has decreased to 1,7 mmHg in the other group of voluntaries using AZOPT. In the patients with POAG using TRUSOPT the average IOP reduced to 6,5 mmHg, and the IOP reduction to 6,9 mmHg was observed in group of the patients with POAG using AZOPT.

Discussion: As the result of conducted study the hypotensive effect of both of a carbonic anhydrase inhibitors was established in both groups of healthy voluntarees and  patients with POAG. TRUSOPT and AZOPT have an approximately equal hypotensive effect in glaucoma patients.
