Purpose:Comparative analysis of the efficacy of non-penetrating deep sclerectomy/NPDS/ with and without reticulated hyaluronic acid implant in POAG surgery.
Methods:In the prospective multicentre study NPDS was performed in 48 eyes with hyaluronic acid implant and in 48 eyes without. The group of 96 patients was retrospectively analyzed in follow-up period of 18 months. Results: The mean preoperative intra-ocular pressure/IOP/ was similar in both groups/ 26,2+/-6,1mmHg in implant group, 27,12+/-6,4mmHg without implant group. The mean post-operative IOP was 16,6+/-2,4mmHg in implant group,16,0+/_ 3,5mmHg without implant. The success rate defined as an IOP lower than 21,0mmHg without medication 71% in NPDS with implant group and 23%in NPDS without implant group at 18 months post-operatively. In both groups with additional hypotensive drugs IOP was controlled, no surgical reintervention was unnecessary.
Conclusion: NPDS with hyaluronic acid implant showed longer
IOP reduction without medication.
