Purpose: To assess usefulness of HRT in monitoring POAG patients

Material: 84 pts (130 eyes), age: 45-70 (mean: 54.7 ) yrs. Topical treatement with β-blockers and/or CAI. Control group of healthly subjects: 48 pts (96 eyes), age: 40-70 (mean: 51.9) yrs.

Follow-up: 18 months.

Method: Analysis of stereometric parameters of optic nerve head (ONH) obtained with HRT ver. 2.01.

Results: Statistically significant changes of stereometric  parameters of ONH were found as follows: Cup/Disk, Cup Area, Rim Area, Cup Shape Measure, Rim Volume, Cup Volume, Mean Cup Depth, Maximal Cup Depth, Mean Retinal Nerve Fibre Layer (RNFL) Thickness, RNFL Cross Section and  Disk Area.

Conclusion: Confocal, scaning tomography with HRT is very effective in monitoring glaucomatous damage in POAG patients.
