All registered accompanying persons are invited to join the following TWO half day tours. All tours will depart from, and return to the Cape Town Convention Centre.

Cape Town Historical
Half day tour - 08:00-13:00
Thursday, March 31, 2005

You will be collected at your hotel and will start the tour at the Castle of Good Hope - the oldest building in South Africa. An informative session at the Castle will leave you enlightened about the early days of the Cape. From here we depart via the town hall to the Company Gardens, where we first visit the South African History and Cultural museum. After we take a walk through the company gardens, your guide will tell you more about the gardens and its history. The History and Cultural Museum will ensure all your questions are answered and you have a comprehensive background on the South African history. Next to the gardens you will find the Cathedral where Bishop Desmond Tutu was the Arch Bishop. You will now be taken to the Bo-Kaap Malay area where slaves were resident in the slave era. This area is very colorful and will give you a taste of the Cape Malay community as it exists today. After a fantastic visit you will be returned to your hotel.

Here you have the option to visit areas like District six, Cape Malay Quarters and the Townships where you can also see upliftment programs in progress. Opportunities are also available to witness sustainable development programs in progress.
