About Berlin

Berlin is one of Europe’s leading cosmopolitan centers, home to the German Parliament, the “Bundestag”. Berlin is a city on the cutting edge, and has often been in the spotlight on the world stage over the past 100 years. Winter is a romantic time to visit Berlin as it is easy to evoke the cold war history in the bleakness of February.

Berlin has always impressed visitors with its diversity of museums, palaces and historic edifi ces. Its’ historic significance as a former royal residence comes alive on almost every corner, especially in the eastern part of the city.

One of the most important historic monuments and infamous symbols of the city is the remains of the barrier built in 1961 which became known as the Berlin Wall. This wall divided the city into two parts - East and West.
The Berlin Wall was dismantled in 1989, once again reuniting East and West Germany. Although the wall has come down, the differences between the utilitarian East and decadent West are still apparent.

Berlin is a mixture of both modern and ancient architecture that characterizes the cityscape.
