Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the Organizing Committee, I take pleasure in inviting you to
the 9th International
Symposium on GnRH on the topic: “The hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal
axis in cancer
and reproduction”. The Symposium will take place on February 10-12,
2008 in Berlin,
Germany.
The 2008 Symposium in Berlin will highlight the 100th anniversary of Aschner’s
demonstration that sections of the pituitary stalk effect genital organs
and hypothesized
that pituitary extracts may effect genital organs, postulating that they
may have many
practical applications.
The Symposium will bring together basic scientists and clinicians. The basic
scientists
will give state of the art lectures on Pituitary Regulation of GnRH secretion
as well as its
mechanism of action on its various targets in order to disseminate some of
their expert
knowledge to interested clinical researchers and practising clinicians.
The clinicians and clinical researchers will highlight on their experience
and stimulate the
basic scientists to investigate new avenues. Lessons learned from the use
of Gonadotropic
hormones will be assessed and perspectives for the near and far, explored.
Chemists and Pharmacologists will present pharmacological preparations in
Phase 1, 2
and 3 and will give the audience a glimpse into the future.
Special symposia will analyse three million well documented gonadotropin
stimulated
cycles and will attempt to develop “Best Practice” guidelines
for daily clinical practice.
We hope that by February 2008, enough information will have been accumulated
in order
to arrive at some kind of consensus regarding the use of GnRH agonists and
antagonists
in the management of endometriosis and uterine fi broids.
The Symposium is primarily intended for endocrinologists, urologist, gynecologists
and
researchers in basic and pharmacological sciences.
We look forward to welcoming you to Berlin and hope that this meeting will
be a memorable
experience for all of you, where Berlin, the gem of Central Europe, will
provide an exquisite
background for an open exchange of ideas and presentation of new research.
We hope
that you will be able to further friendships and strengthen scientifi c collaboration
in Berlin,
a city as lively and fast changing as the topic of the Symposium!
