Dear Colleagues,On behalf of the Organizing Committee, I take pleasure in inviting you to the 8th International Symposium on GnRH Analogues in Cancer and Human Reproduction, which will take place in the Renaissance Salzburg Hotel, Salzburg, Austria, from February 10-13, 2005. Progress in the field of GnRH Analogues has been extensive and rapid in the past years. Our knowledge in Hypothalamo - Pituitary Regulation of GnRH secretion as well as its mechanism of action on its various targets will be reviewed and discussed in detail. The pro and cons of present GnRH Analogues for clinical use will be assessed and perspectives for the near and far, explored. The Salzburg 2005 meeting will highlight the 25th anniversary of GnRH use to achieve medical castration in men. A special symposium will summarize the unique success achieved with the GNRH analogues and look at the recent advances in the field, especially the controlled-release methodology. During the last few years we have gained clinical experience with GnRH antagonists firstly developed for the prevention of premature LH surges during Controlled Ovarian Hyperstimulation. This symposium will review the lessons learnt from different applied antagonist/ FSH regimens and how to proceed with daily clinical practice. It will attempt to develop Best practice guidelines of future utilization of GnRH Analogues. We hope that by February 2005, enough information will have been accumulated in order to arrive at some kind of consensus regarding the use of GnRH agonists and antagonists in the management of endometriosis and uterine fibroids. The GnRH Symposia are primarily intended for endocrinologists, urologist, gynecologists and researchers in basic and pharmacological sciences. We look forward to welcoming you to Salzburg, and hope that this meeting will be a memorable experience for all of you, where Salzburg, the gem of Central Europe, will provide an exquisite background for an open exchange of ideas and presentation of new research. We hope that you will be able to further friendships and strengthen scientific collaboration and enjoy the sounds of Mozart. Sincerely yours,
