CALL FOR PAPERS

Engineers and Scientists who are interested in the Mechanical Behaviour of Materials are cordially invited to participate in ICM9. Those wishing to present a paper are kindly requested to submit a 250 word abstract, by electronic mail, before October 31, 2002.
In the case of multiple authors, please indicate who is the person to whom correspondence should be addressed. A single presentation is allocated to each participant.

The proceedings will consist of papers corresponding to all the presentations. Those based on plenary and sectional lectures are limited to 10 pages, and those based on contributed lectures and posters are limited to 6 pages. The proceedings will be published as a CD and distributed at the time of the conference (Deadline, February 28, 2003).

THE RATE SENSITIVITY OF THE FRACTURE TOUGHNESS OF COMMERCIAL POLYCARBONATE

D. Rittel

The fracture toughness of commercial polycarbonate has been studied at various loading rates, ranging from quasi-static loading up to dynamic loading. To ensure mode I loading, Compact Compression Specimens were used in all the experiments. Quasi-static experiments were carried out using a servo-hydraulic machine, while dynamic experiments were carried out using a Kolsky apparatus (split Hopkinson pressure bar) ...

You will receive confirmation that your abstract has been received, indicating the abstract number, which it has been allocated. Please refer to this number in all correspondence regarding the abstract.
