East Lothian and Glenkinchie Whisky Distillery
Wednesday, October 6, 2004 13:00 -17:00 hrs
Drive to East Lothian - a region well known for its fertile farming land, which played a major role in the 18th century Scottish Agricultural Revolution and now produces some of the best barley in Scotland.

Glenkinchie Distillery is set in 17 acres of such farmland and there has been a distillery on the same site since 1825. For some years, Glenkinchie distillery produced a malt whiskey only for blending purposes, but it now markets its own single Malt as part of the "Classic Malts" range which features 6 very diverse malts from the best whiskey regions of Scotland. View the museum in the old malting house. After a tour of the distillery, there will be time for a taste of this Malt. Proceed to Direlton for a visit of the ruined castle, and wander around the beautiful award-winning gardens. Return to Edinburgh via the beautiful sandy beaches at Gullane
Rate per person £21.50

Royal Edinburgh
Thursday, October 7, 2004 13:30 -17:30 hrs
This city tour of Edinburgh will give a panorama impression of Scotland's capital city, starting with the New Town of Edinburgh and then moving on to the Royal Mile in the Old Town, where a guided tour of the Palace of Holyrood House is taken. Located at the Eastern end of the Royal Mile, the Palace of Holyrood House was originally established as a monastery back in the 12th century, but gradually it was turned into a royal residence. Several events in the time of Mary Queen of Scots took place here - most notably so the murder of Rizzio - the Queen's secretary. Still used by the Royal Family when visiting Scotland, it is still a very living part of Scottish history.

Proceed to Edinburgh's historic port and view the splendid buildings of the old town on the Water of Leith, as well as the exciting new developments. Experience the former Royal Yacht Britannia, now occupying a permanent berth in Leith during this tour.
Rate per person £37.50

Scone Palace
Sunday, October 3, 2004 09:00 - 17:00 hrs Or Friday, October 8, 2004
Depart Edinburgh and drive via the impressive Forth Road Bridge to Fife. Continue towards Perth the former capital of Scotland for a century until 1437, situated at the head of the River Tay, which is famous for its salmon. Stopping nearby to visit Scone Palace, the private home of the Earl and Countess of Mansfield. The former crowning place of Scottish Kings, Scone Palace boasts a magnificent collection of antiques - in particular of ivories, porcelain, clocks and tapestries.

Continue to Crieff for a tour of the Famous Grouse Experience at Glenturret Distillery. Glenturret is the oldest distillery still in operation in Scotland and is situated by the River Turrett. View the multi-media whisky experience, and an opportunity to taste the whisky made here.

Proceed westwards to one of Scotland's most beautiful scenic areas - The Trossachs region which is known as "The Highlands in Miniature". A stretch of country only 5 miles wide, The Trossachs have a wild romantic grandeur; birch-covered mountains, dramatic rugged peaks, tumbling streams, shining lochs, moorland and glen all capture the imagination and invoke the shades of "Rob Roy" and the "The Lady of the Lake"
