Welcome LetterDear Colleagues, On behalf of the Organizing Committee of the Eleventh Biennial Meeting of the International Gynecologic Cancer Society, it is my pleasure to invite you to the Meeting, which will be held from October 14-18, 2006 in Santa Monica, California, USA. The banner for our 11 th Biennial Meeting is the “Global Alliance for the Prevention and Treatment of Cancer in Women ". The IGCS is proud to dedicate its energy and resources to the improvement of cancer care for women throughout the world. Dr. Gillian Thomas and the Scientific Program Committee have organized an outstanding program. In addition to State-of-the-Art, Frontiers, Interactive, Free Communication and Meet-the-Professor sessions, a Molecular Biology Symposium will be offered. The symposium will include presentations by Nobel Laureate Dr. Louis Ignarro and Professor Rakesh Kumar of the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center among others. Other special symposia, offered prior to the meeting proper, include the Harold Fox Symposium on Gynecologic Pathology, a Symposium for Gynecologic Oncology Nurses and a special symposium for cancer survivors. During the Meeting you will learn about the latest clinical advances, research findings, medical treatments and surgical techniques in the field of women’s gynecological cancer. We urge you to help the IGCS by purchasing tickets to the Gala Fundraising Event to be held on Sunday evening, October 15th at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills. Trisha Yearwood will perform, and the Celebrity Co-Chairs are Naomi Watts (who was held in King Kong hands) and Peri Gilpin (who you may know from the television show, Frazier). Attend and join us on the red carpet! There will be ample time to meet your colleagues during the varied social events and to visit the exhibition whilst enjoying the special atmosphere and hospitality of Santa Monica. The organization of IGCS 11 is managed by our long-term professional meeting organizer, Kenes International. We look forward to your participation in IGCS 11 and to welcoming you to Santa Monica.
