WELCOME LETTERS
Dear Colleagues,
The biennial meeting of the International Gynecologic Cancer Society has
become the prime meeting on gynaecological cancer. IGCS strives for global
representation, reflecting the diverse cultural, economic and geographic
impact of gynaecological cancer. Therefore, IGCS organizes its biennial
meetings alternating in different continents and we are very happy to invite
you this time to Bangkok, Thailand.
The mission of IGCS is to unite the globe in the fight against gynaecological
cancer. As a non-profit independent organization, the IGCS wants to contribute
to the prevention, treatment and study of gynaecological cancer (including
breast cancer), as well as in the improvement of the quality of life of women
suffering from gynaecological cancer throughout the world.
In this way, the programme will not only provide you with the latest top
scientific abstracts but also provide many state-of-the-art lectures, tumor
boards and meet the expert sessions with special attention to the treatment
of gynaecological cancer in less developed areas. In addition, sessions aimed
at the specific education of nurses and fellows involved in the treatment of
gynaecological cancer from all over the world will be organised.
Special sessions will be organized for specialities that are less represented in
our societies such as pathology, palliative care and translational research.
For all this, you will need to be in Bangkok, the City of Angels, from
October 25-28, 2008 in an attractive and well-equipped conference centre!

Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the Thai Organizing Committee of the
12th Biennial Meeting of the International Gynecologic Cancer Society, it is my pleasure to invite you to the Meeting which will be held from October 25-28, 2008, in Bangkok, Thailand.
The Scientific Committee, chaired by Prof. Wui-Jin Koh, has been working hard to develop an interesting and stimulating program, covering a wide range of disciplines and interests.
At the meeting, you will meet some of the world’s authorities in the field of gynecologic oncology. Advanced knowledge, techniques and novel approaches in the management of patients will be presented and explained. Challenging problems of the developing countries will also be aired and discussed.
Apart from the scientific sessions, you and your colleagues will have every opportunity to explore Bangkok and other parts of Thailand, one of the most exotic, fascinating and exciting countries in the world.
In Bangkok, there are scores of places for attendees to visit and find relaxation after the meeting, including the fantastic Grand Palace, myriads of temples, ultra-modern shopping malls and centers, internationally-renowned spas and therapeutic centers,
a wide selection of sports and recreational facilities and activities, and a diverse range of restaurants to satisfy every taste and whim. Some may prefer to take the opportunity to visit Chiang Mai, the famous cultural center in the North, while others may choose blissful relaxation on the beautiful beaches of Phuket and Samui in the South.
The month of October is pleasantly mild, and you will have ample opportunities to experience and enjoy our famous Thai hospitality.
I am confident that it will be a memorable and highly enjoyable event, both for you and for us. We look forward to your participation in IGCS 12, and to welcoming you to Bangkok, the capital of “The Land of Smiles”.
