WELCOME NOTE

Dear Colleague,

Once again, we are pleased to invite you to attend and participate in the 4th International Conference on New Trends in Clinical and Experimental Immunosuppression. Geneva is our destination and home to this multi-disciplinary conference devoted to new aspects and knowledge of immunomodulation. The meeting is designed to offer the attendees an authoritative update on the most recent developments in this rapidly expanding field.

The year 2000 program has been designed to cover a range of topics in 7 Plenary Sessions with lectures by renowned scientists and clinicians. We plan to cover topics in the fields of Transplantation, Autoimmunity, Hematology, Rheumatology, and relevant subjects in contemporary Neurology. In all of these clinical fields, there are exciting prospects for therapy ranging from chemical to biological, from preclinical to recent clinical application, and use in one or more of the multiplicity of medical fields. As well, we will devote a session to health and pharmaceutical economics and policy matters. As traditional, there will be a substantial number of oral and poster presentations based on abstract submission. The reviewed accepted presentations will be published in TRANSPLANTATION PROCEEDINGS as full papers.

Finally, to use the well-worn cliches pervasive in science and medicine these days, this meeting serves to "cross-fertilize" and it is hoped that collaborative "fall-out" occurs through the intellectual stimulation and professional "networking".

We are looking forward to meeting you in February, 2000 in Geneva.

Ronald D. Guttmann MD FRCPC
President-Elect
