It is a great pleasure for me to be involved in the organization of the forthcoming conference on Immunosuppression.

The past conferences have proved very successful in offering programmes that tackled the cutting edge of this rapidly growing subject. More recently, as the prospect of reprogramming of the immune system towards tolerance becomes more likely, research in Immunosuppression is increasingly targeted to the search for agents which can be given short-term yet have long-term benefit. This can only be achieved if we understand the mechanisms involved. Consequently, a significant focus of the next meeting will be on this aspect of Immunosuppression.

The venues for these meetings have always been in very congenial atmosphere, and the choice of Salzburg for the coming meeting continues in that tradition.
