The Sound of Music Tour
Half-day tour 09:00 - 13:00 hrs
Wednesday, February 4, 2004
Guided tour with bus transfer
Born Joannes Christosomos Wolfgang Theopolis Mozart to Leopold and Anna Maria Mozart on January 27, 1956, Mozart is one of the most famous musicians of all times. The musical genius was born in Getreidegasse in Salzburg, where the family lived until 1773. Under his father's teaching, Mozart quickly became a child prodigy, playing in front of kings and emperors across Europe. The family then moved to Makartplatz which is now known as his residence. Visit the newly opened Mozart Residence and enjoy the multi-media show. Music lovers from around the world come and see artifacts such as his childhood violin, concert violin, clavichord and portraits of his family. Most of his residence was destroyed by a bomb, but the building has since been restored to its original glory. Since the 18th century, one can hear the Sound of Mozart’s Magic Flute and other famous compositions between these historic walls. This tour will give you an insight into the Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque aspects of the city as Mozart saw it.
