accompanying persons' programAll registered accompanying persons are invited to the Get-together Reception of the Congress, which will take place on September 27, as well as the following two half-day tours: CLASSICAL VENICE2 hours walking tourGuests will begin the historical and artistic introduction to Venice at St. Mark's Square (Piazza S.Marco) with English speaking guide. Proceed to admire the interior of St. Mark's (the Basilica). The tour will continue with a visit to the Doge's Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the former seat of government and home of the Dogi (Dukes) who ruled Venice in the early centuries. This pinkish-red marble and white Istrian stone palace is considered by many to be the grandest civic structure in Italy dating back to the 12th Century. The tour ends at the Bridge of Sighs that links the palace to the medieval prison, Palazzo delle Prigioni, across the canal.
EXCURSION TO THE ISLANDS OF MURANO/BURANO AND torcelloHalf-day Tour (4 hours)Guests will meet in the lobby of the Hilton Hotel. Water tour of the northern lagoon by private motor-launch with English speaking guide. The first stop will be in Murano, the island of glass - guests will have an opportunity to see a "Glass Master" in action inside a Glass Factory. The visit will continue with a short walk in Burano, a typical fishermen island where all the houses are painted in different bright colors (this little island is also famous for its lace). The last stop is Torcello - the "cradle" of Venetian civilisation where guests will visit the Byzantine Cathedral, harbouring the unique mosaic "The Universal Judgement".
