Awards

• The Jim Tiedje Award will be awarded to J. Gijs Kuenen of the Technical University, Delft, The Netherlands, for his outstanding contributions to microbial ecology, as decided by a panel of international experts. Professor Kuenen will give a plenary lecture at ISME-11 following a special ceremony.
   
• The Young Investigator Award for significant contribution to microbial ecology.
   
• Three best poster awards will be chosen each day and the winners will receive free ISME membership for 2007 and will be invited to publish their research in ‘Microbial Ecology’.
