Extended deadline for submission of abstracts: March 15th, 2004

Participants who would like to present an oral or poster presentation must submit an abstract for consideration by the scientific committee. The abstracts should be submitted in English and arrive no later than March 15th, 2004. The scientific committee will determine whether the abstract will be accepted for presentation, with consideration to be given to the author's preference of a poster or oral presentation.

The presenting author is required to ensure that all co-authors are aware of the content of the abstract before submission to the Secretariat.

Only the abstracts of registered presenting authors will be included in the program and in the symposium's abstract book.

SUBMISSION OPTIONS
Abstracts may be submitted using the this website. Abstract submission is now closed.
Please do not make multiple submissions of the same abstract.

• Abstracts must be written in English
  
  
• The abstract should not contain more than 250 words excluding title, author (s), affiliations and acknowledgements per abstract
  
  
• Your abstract should be informative, containing:
  - Background and aims
  - Methods
  - Results
  - Conclusions
  - Acknowledgements
• Uncommon abbreviations must be defined before being used as an abbreviation in the text.
• A simple table or figure may be included

AWARDS
The following awards will be given:

• The James Tiedje award will be awarded to a senior scientist for outstanding contributions to microbiol ecology. The winner of this award will give a plenary lecture at ISME-10
• The Young Scientist award for significant contribution to microbial ecology.
• Best poster awards will be chosen from each poster session.
