Dear Colleague,
It gives us great pleasure to welcome you to the 3rd International Symposium
on Ocular Pharmacology and Pharmaceutics (ISOPP), which is being held in Lisbon,
Portugal from 10-13, February, 2000.
This Symposium extends between two focusing points: The development of new
drugs and the implementation of these new drugs in clinical reality.
The Symposium includes:
- Scientific sessions covering most of the topics in ocular pharmacology
today.
- Discussion sessions on drug development as well as drug usage.
- Selected drugs will be presented by their developers.
- Updated algorithms of therapy of common clinical entities.
- Topics addressing universal development issues (formulations,
preservatives, and drug delivery).
- Roundtables and sessions on selected ethical and economical aspects of
drug development.
The Symposium provides the opportunity for drug developers and
academicians to meet collaborators and competitors alike in formal and informal
sessions and discussions. We believe such discussions can only facilitate the
progress of drug development for the benefit of all.
We would like to thank all authors for their participation and
contribution to the high level of scientific material to be presented over the
next few days.
We also wish to extend special thanks to the Portuguese board for providing us
with valuable assistance in the organization of this 3rd ISOPP and to all
sponsoring pharmaceutical companies for their support and making this Symposium
a podium for their scientific material.
We welcome you to Lisbon to what promises to be an extremely interesting
and informative meeting.
