PRE CONGRESS TOURS

A. MASADA DEAD SEA

Travel through a land of mesmerizing beauty and contrast, to the lowest point on earth, the Dead Sea. Ascend by cable car to the remains of the fortress built by King Herod the Great, which served as the last place of refuge for 965 men, women and children. Besieged by the Romans and loosing all hope, they chose death rather than surrender.

Follow history into the oasis of Ein Gedi, the caves to which David fled from the wrath of aging Saul. Enjoy the beauty of the Judean Desert and experience the unique sensation of an "unsinkable" swim in the Dead Sea. Return to Tel Aviv via the Qumran caves, the site of the "Essenes" where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found.

B. JERUSALEM AS THE CENTER OF THREE RELIGIONS
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 18, 1998
FULL DAY TOUR : 08:30 - 17:00

Explore Jerusalem as the center of the three great monotheistic faiths: Judaism, Christianity and Islam. Visit and view the original sites where the significant moments in the beginnings of the religions took place. The wonders of the city unfold as you enter through the Jaffa Gate, viewing the great architectural achievements of Jerusalem's builders over the centuries.

Walk through the bustling oriental market, passing the spice dealers, butchers, textile and jewellery merchants on your way to the "Via Dolorosa". The roof tops offer a breathtaking view of the Golden Dome of the Rock and the elegant El Aqsa Mosque, the Moslem connection to the city. Descend along the path of the upper city dwellers to the "Western Wall" the last monumental remains of the glorious Herodion Temple.

Return via some more of the city's sites.

POST CONGRESS TOURS

Travel through the Sharon plains back into history as you enter the fortified crusader city of Caesarea . View the many Herodian and Crusader remains. Continue to Nazareth, the sacred Galilean town where Jesus spent part of his youth; visit the Church and Mary's Well. A late afternoon cruise on the tranquil Sea of Galilee takes you to the town of Tiberias, situated on the lake's shores.

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 24,1998

Visit Capernaum on the Shores of the Sea of Galilee, a place of interest to both Jews and Christians.
It was where Jesus lived for some time and where many Jews fled after the destruction of the Temple. Visit Tabgha, the site where Jesus performed the miracle of the Multiplication of Loaves and Fishes. Travel to Safed, one of the four cities holy to Judaism and continue to Haifa, Israel's sparkling port city. View the golden-domed Bahai Shrine and enjoy the breathtaking view from Mt. Carmel. Overlooking the bay of Haifa.
Return to Tel-Aviv in late afternoon for overnight in a deluxe hotel
