Dear Friends and
Colleagues,
On behalf of the Israeli Societies for
Infectious Diseases and Chemotherapy we take great pleasure in inviting you to join us at
the 11th Mediterranean Congress of Chemotherapy, which will be held from the 18 - 21
October 1998 in Tel-Aviv, Israel. This MCC will serve as an update for Infectious Diseases
and Oncology specialists in the Mediterranean countries, with particular emphasis on
clinical problems, including the relationship with other specialties, Health Management
Organizations and Continuous Medical Education. We shall of course maintain the academic
standards and spirit that the MCC demands, secured by the best international speakers
In order to ensure that this Congress will be
of the highest scientific standard we will offer the traditional topics of current
interest for the specialist in infectious diseases and oncology. Sessions will be held on
new antimicrobial and chemotherapeutic drugs and on the pathogenesis, clinical aspects,
laboratory diagnosis, public health, importance of infections and cancer.
In addition, we have decided to place
particular emphasis at this Congress on the practical aspects of everyday therapeutic
importance. There will be many sessions devoted to "meeting the professor" that
will address special and problematic aspects of infections and oncology that are
frequently encountered by the practicing physician, whether family physician,
pediatrician, otolaryngologist, urologist, gastroenterologist, or pulmonologist.
We are encouraging the attendance of hospital-
and community-based practitioners who have to face these issues on a daily basis, rather
than to have solely an "experts" meeting. Thus, the very fabric of the meeting
will have a novel approach, with an eclectic audience hitherto untapped, and previously
not attracted to the Mediterranean Congress of Chemotherapy.
As is only fitting, emphasis will be placed on
special medical problems of the Mediterranean littoral and on the particular expression of
common diseases in this area of the world.
The Congress venue at the Dan Panorama Hotel
will be on the very shores of the Mediterranean Sea. Tel Aviv, a bustling, modern city,
adjoining the picturesque Jaffa port has a beautiful esplanade and perfect beaches. There
are wonderful restaurants in this vibrant city that has so much to offer culturally with
its museums, concerts, ballet and opera. Jerusalem and Bethlehem are a short bus-ride
away, while Nazareth, the Sea of Galilee and other religious and historical sites are all
within easy reach.
We urge you to join us in a sumptuous feast of
medical and scientific fare that will be an appropriate tribute to our common heritage.
