SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 9, 2008 - JERUSALEM

08:30: Depart Kfar Maccabiah hotel.

Drive up the highway #1 towards Jerusalem. We start the day with the breathtaking view of Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives, and then enter the Old City via the Jaffa Gate. We will explore the Jewish Quarter and visit the Cardo, an ancient marketplace where you can still shop today. Our next stop will be the Western Wall, the holiest place to the Jewish People. We will continue into the Christian Quarter and walk along the Via Dolorosa, following the Stations of the Cross to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher.

13:00: Buffet Lunch American Colony hotel.

After lunch continue to Mount Zion, to visit the Tomb of King David, the Upper Room, site of the  Last Supper and the Dormition Abbey.  End the day with a panoramic drive along the new neighborhoods of Jerusalem including the Knesset and the Supreme Court.

Please note: Modest dress (no shorts or sleeveless shirts) and head covering are required for visiting the holy places.

SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 10, 2008 - HAIFA - AKKO CAESAREA

08:30: Depart Kfar Maccabiah hotel. ‎

Drive along the Mediterranean Sea road to Haifa, Israel's largest port to view the city.
10:00: Visit the breathtaking Bahai Gardens from atop Mount Carmel.

Continue north to explore the Knights Halls, built by the Crusaders and the Underground City in Akko, before walking through its
colorful bazaar (Suk) to the port.

13:00: Lunch at Abu Cristo Restaurant.

On the way back stop at Caesarea. Tour the ancient Roman ‎City including the magnificent theatre and the Crusader Fortress with its ‎mysterious dry moat. ‎

Note: At the Bahai Gardens there are about 700 steep steps to descend. Modest dress is required‎.

MONDAY, FEBRUARY 11, 2008 MASSADA - DEAD SEA

08:00: Depart Kfar Maccabiah hotel. ‎

Travel south and descend to the lowest place on earth – the Dead Sea.

Ascend (by Cable Car) to the mountain fortress of Massada, once a luxurious palace built by Herod the Great and later the last stronghold of the Jewish rebellion against the Romans. Explore the unique remains including the bathhouse, water cisterns, storerooms, hanging palaces and the Synagogue.

13:00: Lunch at the Daniel hotel & Spa - including entrance to the Hotel Spa.
The high mineral content in the water and the mud is well known for its curative effects.

Time permitting, stop for a visit at Qumran caves, where the famous Dead Sea scrolls were found.

Please note: comfortable walking shoes, head covering, sun protection, swimsuit and towel are recommended.
